DriverTaxHelp is a free resource for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon Flex, Grubhub, Shipt, Spark, and other gig platform drivers. We help independent contractors understand their taxes, track their mileage, maximize deductions, and file with confidence — all in plain language, without the accounting jargon.
Why This Site Exists
When you start driving for a gig platform, nobody hands you a tax guide. You get a 1099 form in January and a sinking feeling that you’re supposed to know what to do with it. Most drivers figure it out the hard way — by overpaying taxes for years, missing deductions they didn’t know existed, or scrambling through Reddit threads at midnight in April.
We built this site because that experience shouldn’t be normal. Gig workers deserve clear, accurate, and free tax information that’s written for them — not for CPAs.
Our Approach
Every guide on this site follows three rules:
- Plain language. Tax law is complicated enough. We explain things the way you’d explain them to a friend over coffee — not the way an IRS publication does.
- Cited sources. Important claims are backed by links to IRS publications, tax code sections, or official platform documentation. If we can’t source it, we don’t publish it.
- No fake expertise. We are not CPAs, tax attorneys, or financial advisors. We are information curators who research official sources, organize them into readable guides, and clearly label everything as informational — not professional advice. When a topic requires expert judgment, we tell you to consult a qualified professional.
How We Make Money
This site is supported by advertising (Google AdSense) and, on some pages, affiliate commissions from products we recommend. If you click an affiliate link and sign up for a mileage tracking app or tax software, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we’ve tested personally and believe provide genuine value to gig drivers.
We never accept payment for reviews or rankings. Every app comparison and recommendation on this site is based on hands-on testing and real driver feedback.
